Brief description: A. chinensis x A. uniflora. A half-evergreen shrub; the young branches are minutely reddish-downy. Leaves are ovate, simple, opposite, margins shallowly and broadly toothed. Flowers are perfect, pinkish, in cymes, the persistent sepals 2-5, the corolla tubular. Fruits are a one-seeded leathery achene crowned by the persistent calyx. 

Campus data: Occasionally cultivated on campus. A couple dozen shrubs encountered.
