Common name: Tree of heaven.

Brief description: A rapidly growing incompletely dioecious tree, native of east Asia; bark and seeds are very bitter. Leaves are large (to 1 m) pinnately compound, alternate; leaflets are entire, margins are entire except a few coarse teeth at base, pinnately veined. Flowers are small, greenish-yellow and occur in large terminal panicles.  Fruits are twisted.

Campus data: Occurs sporadically everywhere in the wild regions on campus as shrubs or a small to medium-sized tree. More than 20 individuals encountered.
