Common name: Red chokeberry.

Brief description: A colonial shrub with densely tomentose twigs. Leaves are elliptic or oblong-lanceolate to obovate, simple, alternate, entire, pinnately veined, tomentose beneath, margins serrate-toothed. The midvein has a row of brown, slender glands above.  The foliage turns bright red in the fall.  Flowers are perfect, white, small, in rounded clusters. Fruits are a small, red pome. 

Campus data: Very rare in the wild on campus. One small individual encountered as undergrowth of Westhampton Forest.
