Common name: Southern hackberry.

Brief description: A medium-sized to large monoecious or polygamous tree. Leaves are yellowish-green, lanceolate, oblique at base, simple, alternate, entire, pinnately veined, glabrous or nearly so, margins entire to broadly serrate-toothed. Flowers are unisexual, the staminate in small clusters near the base of the twigs of the season, the pistillate -- solitary or paired from upper axils of the same twigs. Fruits are a dark orange-red drupe. 

Campus data: Occasionally in the wild on campus, as medium-sized trees.
