Brief description: A shrub to 3 m. Leaves are obovate-oblong, simple, alternate, entire, pinnately veined, margins finely and sharply serrate distally. Flowers are perfect, in racemes. Fruits are ascending, pubescent capsule. 

Campus data: Rare along the edges of Westhampton Lake. One patch encountered.
