Common name: Golden bell (generic).

Brief description: An arching shrub to 3 m with hollow pith. Leaves are ovate to ovate-oblong, simple, opposite, entire or sometimes 3-parted, pinnately veined, margins irregularly serrate-toothed. Flowers are perfect, the corolla tube campanulate and golden yellow, flowering April, before the leaves emerge. Fruits are a bilocular, many-seeded, narrowly ovoid capsule. 

Campus data: Very rare on campus. Cultivated in one spot.
