Common name: American holly.
Voucher: Kostadinov 197, (URV) Brief description: An evergreen, polygamo-dioecious, bushy shrub to a small tree to 15 m. Leaves are leathery, thick, elliptic to oblong or ovate, simple, alternate, entire, pinnately veined, glabrous, dull, margins with several, strong spine-tipped teeth. Flowers are mostly unisexual, the staminate in axillary peduncled clusters. Fruits are a bright red drupe, or an yellow drupe in some cultivars.
