Common name: Winterberry.

Brief description: A polygamo-dioecious,  deciduous shrub to 5 m. Leaves are round-obovate to elliptic or lance-oblong, simple, alternate, entire, pinnately veined, margins toothed. Flowers are unisexual or perfect, the staminate in axillary fascicles, the pistillate -- solitary or a few together, axillary. Fruits are a bright red to yellow, many-stoned drupe. 

Campus data: Very rare on campus. Several shrubs were encountered, cultivated around Westhampton Lake.
