Common name: Tulip poplar.

Brief description: A large tree. Leaves are glabrous, simple, alternate, 4-lobed, retuse, pinnately veined with entire margins. Flowers are bisexual, large, solitary and terminal, with pale green sepals and greenish-yellow petals . Fruits are narrow and elongate, dry, in a cone. 

Campus data: Abundant everywhere in the wild, not cultivated. Mature trees are usually very large.
