Brief description: O. heterophyllus x O. fragrans. An evergreen, dioecious or polygamo-dioecious shrub to 6 m. Leaves are larger and broader than the ones of O. heterophyllus, oval to elliptic-oblong, simple, opposite, dark green and glossy above,  with 8-10 large spiny teeth on each side or infrequently entire. Flowers are unisexual or perfect, white, fragrant, on slender pedicels, flowering in June-July. Fruits are a long, bluish, ovoid drupe. 

Campus data: Occasionally cultivated on campus. Several patches encountered.
