Common name: Shining sumac.

Brief description: A shrub or small,  polygamous to dioecious tree up to 6 m, with the young leaves, petioles, and leaf-rachis closely hairy. Well developed latex-ducts. Leaves are odd-pinnately compound, alternate; leaflets are 7-21, oblong to lanceolate, entire, pinnately veined, shining above, margins entire or with a few teeth along the distal margin; the leaf rachis is winged, the wing interrupted at the base of each pair of leaflets . Flowers are unisexual, greenish,  in terminal, dense panicles. Fruits are drupaceous, crimson, hairy. 

Campus data: Rare in the wild on campus on edges of woods.
