Common name: Spirea (generic).

Brief description: An arching shrub to 2 m, with the tips of the twigs dying back during winter.  Leaves are small, linear-lanceolate, simple, alternate, entire, glabrous, margins sharp serrate-toothed. Flowers are perfect, small, white, in sessile umbels in late March - early April. Fruits are a dehiscent uninflated follicle. 

Campus data: Very rarely cultivated on campus. One patch of shrubs encountered.
