Brief description: A deciduous, much-branched spreading shrub to 1.5 m, with the young branchlets stellate-tomentose. Leaves are broadly ovate or oval, simple, opposite, entire, pinnately veined, dull green above, pale beneath, stellate-pubescent on both surfaces, margins irregularly toothed. Flowers are perfect, salverform, pinkish to white, fragrant, in dense subglobose cymes. Fruits are a blue-black, 1-stoned drupe. 

Campus data: Rarely cultivated on campus. About a dozen shrubs in one place encountered.
