Materials and Advanced Preparation

Students will need time to review sites and go through their individual processes. They also may need to refer back to the site for instruction. Therefore, students will need access to the Internet throughout the quest. If you have a media center or computer lab in the school, this may be the best place to carry out the lesson.

Students will need art supplies to create their books. The illustrator will determine what he/she needs. Therefore, students may need access to the art room or classroom supplies.

Instructional Support

The classroom teacher should have no problem supervising the project. Again, we recommend that the teacher walk around and talk to groups each day and ask questions. This will also give those students time to express their concerns.

If possible, the illustrator may want to spend some time with the art teacher to get ideas and supplies. Students are expected to read their books to the kindergarten classes. This will require some collaboration between those teachers.
