Introduction
Imagine
thatyou have been transported back to 1861. The Southern States have started
to threaten seccession over their displeasure with the Federal Government. Through
the winter of 1860 you find yourself in the midst of a divided nation with no
solution in sight. Civil War between the Northern and Southern States has become
almost inevitable. The Northern States want the Southern Confederacy to rejoin
the United States. The Southern States wish to remain independant of the North
in the Confederate States of America (CSA). Confederate cannons fire on Fort
Sumter in Charleston, S.C. beginning the war. You are now in the middle ofa
conflict where bloodshed will be rampant.
You and your team will examine the Civil War by looking at several different
perspectives those living through the war. Your job will be to analyze your
individual and gain an understanding on their beliefs and feelings while looking
at how the war effected them. Will the points of view be similar? Will they
conflict?
The goal of this project is for you to gain a deeper understanding of the key
players, battlesites, timeline and issues of the Civil War. The knowledge gained
from researching this American tragedy will help in understanding some of today's
real world conflicts.
