Introduction

The Colonial America WebQuest was designed to serve as a tool to inform students of the different lifestyles in colonial America. The students will also envision life from the perspectives of farmers, artisans, women, and slaves and how each shaped American history.

A group of four students will each find out background information on colonial America. Then, they will each take on a different role (farmer, artisan, woman, slave) to become knowledgeable about one aspect of life in colonial America. After they have researched their role, the students will come together to create two projects: (1) a journal entry for a day in the life of each role chosen in order to describe daily life in colonial America; (2) write a play demonstrating life in colonial America for one day. Students will be sharing gathered information with one another in order to have a better understanding of every aspect of life in colonial America.

Students will be using the Internet as a tool to gather information to complete this WebQuest. They will be using websites that contain textual information and graphics to help them become more knowledgeable about colonial America in general, and their roles in particular.
