This WebQuest primarily follows the Virginia Standards of Learning for third grade science specifically, 3.10:

The student will investigate and understand that natural events and human influences can affect the survival of species. Key concepts include:

a. the interdependency of plants and animals
b. human effects on the quality of air, water, and habitat
c. the effects of fire, flood, disease, and erosion on organisms and
d. conservation and resource renewal.

English standards are also included to a lesser degree.

To successfully complete this project, students will need a basic understanding of Internet navigation and word processing. It is also essential for students to be able to work effectively in small groups.
