The Task

In groups of four using the links provided, you will explore the various journeys of Christopher Columbus, Juan Ponce de Léon, Jacques Cartier, and Christopher Newport. You will each choose to research one of the explorers. Once you have gathered information, as a group you will complete a graphic organizer. The graphic organizer will compare and contrast the explorers’ reasons for exploration and discoveries. Also, make sure to trace each explorers’ expedition on the map provided. Once your group has completed the graphic organizer, chose one of the explorer’s routes to the “New World”. Choose an explorer that your group agrees had the most interesting journey.  Using what you have just learned send home a “message in a bottle” describing the journey and the new land. Bon Voyage!
