Evaluation

You will be evaluated as an individual and as a group. The key to getting a good group grade is by working together and everybody participating equally. Listed below is the rubric for both the debate and the group paper.

Relevance

 

All information is inaccurate, lacking in effort, and does not reflect what the group has researched, and does not fit into the flow of the debate.
Most major information is correct but there are some inaccurate details. The information presented helps the discussion but only shows moderate effort.
Major and minor details are accurate and stays within the limitations of the debate. The student presents creative and pertinent information to the group and helps to make the debate a success.

 

Creativity

 

 

Student only restates facts gathered. No creativity. Does not add a new dimension to the debate
Student restates facts, but there is some resemblance of creativity and good preparation, and is an active and important member of the debate
Student successfully intertwines the facts and imagination in an original manner, and the student adds commentary whenever possible in both the factual aspect as well as the creative domain.

 

Support/Evidence

 

 

Student only restates facts gathered, and does not prove points. Lacks substantial evidence to prove points.
Student restates facts, and tries to support points with evidence. Proves some but not all points and lacks sufficient evidence to make a valid argument.
. Student successfully restates facts, and tries to support points with evidence. Proves all points and has sufficient evidence to make a valid argument.

 

Participation

 

Student is hardly visible in the debate and seems unprepared or unable to add meaningful contribution to the group.
Student participates more than once in the discussion and contributes solid information and to the flow of the debate.
Student participates several times in the discussion and contributes solid information and is a vital member to the flow of the debate.
