Introduction

You are on a team of journalists writing a special edition for your local newspaper on Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s.  She was an African American lady who refused to get up from her seat on a bus for a Caucasian passenger.  Her nonviolent protest affected the world in a way that she may never have imagined.  She also motivated many others to fight for equal rights.

Throughout your research, think about how Rosa Park’s nonviolent protest affected the larger community?  Can you think of ways in which her actions are still affecting the world today?
