Introduction
This WebQuest is a creative opportunity for your students to
learn a variety of skills as well as some important historical content. Upon
completion of the WebQuest, students will have a greater knowledge of the Lost
Colony of Roanoke and its importance in American history. Further, the task
engages students in an activity where they have to work together to come to
a consensus. This will be practice in cooperation and working with others.
Where do I begin?
In order to implement this project in your classroom, you will want to have
a working knowledge of the story of the Lost Colony of Roanoke and the theories
involved. If you are unsure of the content or would like to review it, you might
want to investigate some of the references listed on the resources page or view
a Power Point presentation on the topic. To start this project with your class,
you will need to break them into groups of four. Also, they will need to have
access to computers and video cameras, as well as art materials. For information
on how to evaluate students' work or to see the grading rubric, please refer
to the evaluation page.
