Two weeks ago you were walking along the beach in California and spotted something that looked out of place. As you took a closer look you realized that it was a baby whale, a baby Beluga whale! You immediately ran home and contacted your friend that works in a marine aquarium. The two of you decided to keep the Beluga whale in his aquarium for two weeks. After that you would have to find him another home. Once he was settled in his temporary home, you placed an ad in the newspaper with the purpose of finding him a permanent home.

Amazingly enough, the very next day someone responded to your ad, Mr. Generous! He is now offering you the opportunity to research and write a proposal to design the most beneficial and humane environment for the whale. If you complete this task, he will provide all necessary funding. This offer is open to each group in your class and it is up to you to make the most appealing proposal.

You should apply the information that you have previously studied about marine life and oceans in order to sucessfully complete this project.  You will also need to rely on your basic computer and Internet skills.

It is imperative that you fully research the life of a Beluga whale, what it needs to survive, what type of environment is most optimal for the whale to thrive in etc. The challenge is up to you. The life of the baby Beluga is in your hands!
