- abandon: to leave forever
- breeding: to keep animals or plants so that you can mate them and produce more of them

captivity: to keep an animal in an enclosure other than its natural home

conservation: careful management and protection of a natural resource

endangered: in danger of becoming extinct

extinct: no longer living

habitat: environment in which a particular kind of animal normally lives and grows

humane: kind and charitable

inhumane: cruel and brutal

native: someone born in a particular place

neglect: to fail to take care of someone or something

species: group of living things that share many common traits. Each species is different from every other species in one or more ways.

wild animal: natural and not tamed by humans

zoology: the study of animal science
