Summer

In the summer time, insects buzz and hum from leaf to flower. High in a tree, bird's nests are hidden by green leaves. There are baby birds in the nest. The days are long, sunny, and hot. At this point, the earth is facing the sun and tilted towards the sun. It is important to remember that while you have summer at your house, other people are having the winter season at their houses.

Clothing for the Summer

Normally, in the summer, shorts, t-shirts, sandals, and sneakers are worn. Sunglasses help to keep the sun light out of you eyes. It is very important to wear sun screen when you are out in the sun. Many people wear bathing suits in the summer.

Fun in the Summer

In the summer, there are many fun things you can do, such as swimming, mowing the lawn, watering bushes and flowers, washing the car, sailing, playing outdoor sports such as baseball, camping out, and playing in the wading pool.

Sniff

When school is out, we love to follow
our noses over a hill and hollow,
smelling jewelweed and vetch,
sniffing fern and milkweed patch.

The airy fifth of our five senses
leads us under, over, fences.
We run like rabbits through bright hours
and poke our noses into flowers!
