Farmers had specific jobs for each month of the year.

| January | cut down dead branches on the trees and use them to build fires for warmth |
| February | plow the land and kill weeds that have started to grow in the soil |
| March | cut dead twigs from the vines to encourage new growth |
| April | shear the sheep and cut and dry the grass to make hay to feed the animals |
| May | cut the ripe barley and begin the harvest |
| June | continue the harvest and carry wheat to sell at the marketplace |
| July | pick the ripe grapes and get the boys to climb the trees and knock down the ripe olives |
| August | take the grains off of the leftover stalks of wheat |
| September | women make cheese from goats' milk |
| October | plant new trees |
| November | plow the land, plant seeds by hand, and use a hoe to cover the seeds with soil |
| December | it's too cold to grow crops so use the time to fix the buildings |
