Your Party

Here is the deal. You and your boyfriend or girlfriend would like to have a dinner party for yourselves and four other couples (that makes how many people?). You have decided on what you are going to serve and the shopping is done. Now you just need to prepare the meal. Seems pretty easy, doesn't it? Well, maybe not: there is a catch. Not all of the recipes were written to make enough food for ten people. You need to figure out what changes need to be made in the recipes in order to have enough food for everyone. Good Luck!

So where do you want to start? Click below on the name of a dish to see the recipes for what you will be serving at your party.

Once you know what is in each of the dishes you will be making, you will need to use what you know about adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions to figure out how much of each ingredient you will need in order to have enough food for everyone. Since there is not anywhere for you to work on these pages, you might want to grab a pencil and paper so that you can make the calculations as you look at each recipe.

Let me help you get started. You will see that the recipe for Crispy Half-Baked Spuds (the side dish you will serve) calls for two medium potatoes, but this is to serve two people. In order to make enough for ten people, you need to multiply by five (so you need ten potatoes). Now you need to make the calculations for each ingriedient, in each recipe.. (Also, just to help you a little bit, I would make two loaves of the Country French Bread.)
