Weedy herb; leaves opposite, simple, ovate to lanceolate (becoming progressively narrower towards the apex), base obtuse, margin entire and somewhat wavy, apex acute; inflorescence terminal and from upper nodes, well-branched; flowers minute, white to pink.

Standley (1930) indicates that the plant has antisposmodic properties and, accordingly, has been used to treat epilepsy and chorea (involuntary twitching).
