Tree;
leaves alternate, simple, more or less round, the base varying
from peltate to cordate, apex obtuse, bright red when young, with
sheathing stipules (ocrea); petioles inserted above base of sheathing
stipule; inflorescence an axillary raceme; flowers pale; fruits
globose.
