Commelina elegans Kunth (syn: Commelina erecta Kunth);

Herbaceous monocot; stems ascending; leaves lanceolate, apex acute, attached to the stem via a leaf sheath; flowers enclosed in a pair of green bracts, the margins of which are fused along the posterior portion; petals blue or gray.
