Croton humilis L.

Low shrub; stems and leaves with stellate haris; leaves alternate, simple, ovate to lanceolate, apex acute, margin with minute stalked glands (magnification required!); inflorescence a terminal raceme; pistillate flowers at the base of the raceme, the rest of the flowers staminate; pistillate flowers green; staminate flowers (stamens) white.

Standley (1930) reports that th eplant has stimulant, diaphoretic, and expectorant properties and that it has also been employed to treat malaria.
