Diospyros anisandra Blake; kakal che'

Small tree; branchlets dimorphic, leaves and flowers in tuft-like clusters on short shoots; leaves alternate, simple, obovate, glossy, glabrous, base attenuate, margins entire, apex notched (retuse); flowers borne on short pedicels in the axils of short shoot leaves; petals 4 (rarely 5), creamy white or pale yellow, senescing to brown; sepals 4 (rarely 5), persisting in fruit and becoming linear with acute apices; fruit globose, ca 1 cm in diam.

Of the three species of Diospyros at Rancho Kiuic, Diospyros anisandra can be recognized by its, small obovate leaves clustered on short shoots.
