Shrub; leaves alternate, simple, more or less triangular in outline (deltate), margin with rounded teeth (crenate) or lobed, stellate-pubescent; flowers axillary; epicalyx a series of 10 linear lobes; calyx in the form of a swollen tube with 5 apical lobes; petals red, separate, recurved; stamens fused into a tubular sheath surrounding the style (monadelphous); stigmas 5, globose.
