Hylocereus sp.

Cactus of scandent habit, young stems climbing by means of adventitious roots, older stems often sprawling over other vegetation; stems angular and slightly winged; leaves absent, replaced by clusters of spines, each cluster termed an areole; flowers lateral on the stems, to 30 cm long, white, opening at night; fruit ca 10 cm in diameter, covered with divergent scales, red at maturity, edible.
