Tree; leaves alternate, twice-pinnately compound, even-pinnate; leaflets oblong; inflorescence large clusters of peduncled heads, each resembling a powder-puff at anthesis; flowers white; fruits ribbon-like, twisted, dark brown at maturity. (Image at left photographed at UADY Veterinary School.)

The even-bipinnate leaves and peduncled clusters of white flowers of Leucaena leucocephala is similar; Lysiloma latisiliquum, however, can be distinguished by its numerous flower clusters and the twisting of its legume fruits.
Listed as an important source of pollen and/or nectar for bees (Souza Novello 1981, Suarez Molina 1981).
