Shrub
with fleshy storage roots, monoecious; stems weakly woody, brittle;
leaves alternate, deeply palmately lobed, almost compound; leaf
lobes variable, elliptic to deeply lobed (pandurate), apex acute
to acuminate; flowers in clusters at the end of the stem, pistillate
flowers towards the base, staminate flowers throughout the remainder
of the inflorescence; fruit an explosively dehiscent capsule with
3 seeds.
