Martynia annua L.

Coarse herb covered with viscid hairs; leaves opposite, simple, ovate-orbicular and somewhat lobed, base cordate, margin toothed, apex rounded; inflorescence an axillary raceme; corolla tubular, white with purple spots on the lobes and yellow spots in the throat; fruit a woody capsule with deciduous outer layer; inner fruit surface irregularly sculpted, with a pair of recurved apical hooks.
