Coarse
herb over 1 m tall; leaves opposite, simple, shape variable (lower
leaves often hastate-lobed, upper leaves oblong) base cuneate,
margin toothed, apex acute to obtuse; inflorescence a head of
white disk florets (ray florets absent); anthers black; achenes
pubescent, with apical bristles.
