Weedy
annual grass; leaves lanceolate, up to about 5 cm long and 1.5
cm wide and conspicuously transversely undulate; inflorescence
consisting of several short racemes of spikelets attached to the
central axis; glumes with long pinkish-red awns much exceeding
the length of the spikelet.
