Shrub; stems spiny, dimorphic (long shoots and short shoots); leaves often clustered on axillary short shoots, opposite, simple, mostly obcordate, base attenuate, margin entire, apex notched (retuse); flowers nearly sessile on the short shoots; corolla white, tube 2.5 to 3.5 cm long, with 5 very short lobes; fruit globose, fleshy, with multiple seeds.

Very similar to Randia aculeata which differs in its obtuse leaf apicx, i.e., terminating in a distinct broad point.
