Shrub or small tree; branches with thorns; leaves alternate, leathery, elliptic, short-petiolate, apex rounded or with a small notch (retuse); flowers in axillary clusters, white; fruit white, subglobose, fleshy.

Listed, as Bumelia retusa, as an important source of pollen and/or nectar for bees (Suarez Molina 1981).
