Common name: Beauty bush.

Brief description: A deciduous shrub. Leaves are ovate, simple, opposite, entire, pinnately veined, ciliate and hairy at least on veins, margins slightly toothed. Flowers are unisexual, in axillary pairs forming terminal corymbs; the corolla is campanulate. Fruits are an ovoid bristly achene. 

Campus data: Very rare on campus. One bush encountered in the wild as Boatwright Road forest undergrowth.
