Brief description: A shrub to 3 m with slender, soft-hairy branches. Leaves are ovate to oval, simple, opposite, entire, pinnately veined, pubescent everywhere, margins serrate-toothed. Flowers are perfect, sessile, terminal, crowded, the corolla funnelform with 5 lobes, red. Fruits are a dehiscent, woody, pubescent capsule. 

Campus data: Very rare on campus. One cultivated individual encountered.
