Tree with soft pithy trunks; bark smooth, with weak horizontal ridges (remnant leaf scars?); leaves alternate, palmately compound; leaflets elliptic, base acute, margin entire, apex acuminate; male and female flowers on separate trees (dioecious); fruits large, pendulous, with an acute apex, truncate base and 5 longitudinal ridges.
