stem markedly corky with age; leaves opposite, simple ovate-oblong,
base rounded, margin entire, apex obtuse to acute; inflorescence
a nearly sessile umbel-like cluster, with many flowers open simultaneously;
flowers creamy white or pale greenish white, with fragrance like
vanilla.
